As only 10k units were ever created, the original 909s have become rare and expensive. As of writing: only one item is listed on the second-hand marketplace Reverb. Listed at $7000 :o. Check out current offerings and cry.

The Remission EP

The canadian electro-industrial band Skinny Puppy is credited with the first notable release created with a TR-909: the Remission EP – recorded during the summer of 1984 and released in December the same year. 

But they were just the first.

In 2016 – Mixmag listed these classics as the nine best songs created with the 909 (in chronological order):

Can You Feel It

“Can You Feel It” (1986) by Larry Heard, AKA Mr. Fingers. One of the first and most influential deep house tracks.

Larry created the track with a TR-909, a Juno-60 synth two cassette decks.

Strings of Life

Strings of Life (1986) by Rhythim Is Rhythim AKA Derrick May and Michael James.
